A good training session in the morning with the trainees on the water for a good solid time. With the NS14s away it was a reduced fleet racing today and a light unsettled breeze but one long race made the most of it.
The trainees learned the points of sailing and then capsize practice. After lunch another big fleet headed out for Pennant Races 2 & 4 with three of the trainees as crews.
Last week we caught up pennant 1 and we sailed pennant 3 a few weeks ago so we still need to catch up Pennants 2 & 4 and they will be re sailed on November 5th.
A great turn out for our first week of training with a very switched on group ready to get into it. The afternoon weather was all over the place and we only managed to get one race in.
What a great day, we had some new faces around the club for come and try. A brilliant fleet with more new boats and some returning sailers, some excitement on the water and a BBQ to finish off the day.
Opening Day this Sunday which included our come and try in the morning, normal lunch with the official opening at 12:00 and sail past at 12:30 with the Scott Miller Memorial race at 13:00. After sailing will be a BBQ and we would ask members to bring a plate of salad or sweets.
The club will be holding a function to celebrate the life of Mick Emery on Friday 25th August from 5:00pm. All members and friends are invited to attend. ‘The funeral will be on Monday 21st of August at 10am at Turnbull Funerals in North Hobart.
