The 2014 Orbit Lighting and Sorell Service Station Pittwater Regatta got off to a great start with excellent breezes and a particularly good fleet of NS 14s.
Saturday
Racing got away at 13:03 in a steady 10-12 knot breeze with gusts to 16 knots and gradually building during the afternoon.
Four Sabres contested the first race with Lauren Keil inTimes Up easily taking the win from Wetas, it was great to see youngster Ellen Noye out in the trafic doing a great Job.
The NS14s were next with a fleet of 13 boats that sawArctic first from Fast Asleep second then Pumpkin Eaterthird.
The B14s first race with six boats was won by Phantomfrom Rocket Ship then Bondi Tram.
Race two Sabres was a win to Times Up again fromWetas.
In the NS's Paddy Wack took the win from Arctic with Fast Asleep in third. The B14s was Rocket Ship first Bondi Tramsecond and Phantom third.
Race three saw a little more wind and in the Sabres it wasTimes Up from Crash Bandicoot this time.
The NS14s were having an exellent series with many of the placings decided by just a few seconds.
Winner of race three was Spinifex from Arctic in second and Paddy Wack in third.
The B14s was Rocket Ship from Phantom then Bondi Tramagain.
The final race on Saturday saw Lauren Keil jump ship and crew in Rocket ship so the Sabres was one by Crash Bandicoot from Wetas.
The NS14's was won by Paddy Wack from Arctic second and Spinifex third.
B14s Rocket Ship first Phantom second and Bondi Tramthird.
Sunday
Race 5 got away at 12:03 in a shifty NE breeze of 10-14 knots with gusts to 18 and a Sabre fleet of five boats due to the addition of LMG, however the result was the same withTimes Up first Wetas second and LMG third.
The NS14s had yet another great battle with Fast Asleep just five seconds clear of Paddy Wack with Arctic in third.
In the B14s it was Rocket Ship first from new entrant The Hitcher second and Phantom third.
Race 6 Sabres saw Times Up again leading the Sabres home with LMG second and Wetas third.
The NS14s saw Paddy Wack with a comanding win overSpinifex who held off Fast Asleep by a mere 2 seconds.
In the B14s Rocket Ship was first over Phantom and Bondi Tram in third with both The Hitcher and Catharsis OCS.
Race 7 Sabres was Times Up first again with Crash Bandicoot second and Wetas third.
The Ns14s was again won by Paddy Wack with another comanding win over Fast Asleep second and Arctic third.
The B14s was again Rocket Ship from The Hitcher second and Bondi Tram third.
The final race 8 Sabres was again Times Up from LMGsecond and Wetas third.
NS14s Paddy Wack first but this time by a mere 3 seconds from Arctic second and Spinifex third.
B14s The Hitcher first Phantom second and Rocket Shipthird after some carniage at the bottom mark the first time.
Overall results:
Sabre Times Up Lauren Keil first Wetas Mick Emery second and Crash Bandicoot Phil Bloomfield third.
NS14s Paddy Wack Nick McElwee and Isobel Cameron first Arctic Greg Rowsell and Eliah Cameron second withFast Asleep Katherine Davis and Matthew Davis third.
B14s Rocket Ship Adrian Beswick and John Beswick and Lauren Keil on Saturday and Mark Ambrose Sunday firstPhantom Steve Miller and Lauren Bird second and Bondi Tram Stephen Mitchell and Adrianne Daley third.
A great job done by Chris Keil and the start boat team and Byron Johnson and the canteen team.
