Pittwater Regatta 2015
With two withdrawls and three new boats ten Ns14s seven B14s and six Sabres headed out on day two of the Pittwater Regatta.
Right from the first race the fleet were greeted with an even SSE breeze of 8-10 knots which slowly built to a max of 13 knots with gusts to 17 knots during the last two races.
The first race was the Sabres at just after 12:00 with an even start and close racing with plenty of action between the three classes especially at the bottom mark resulting in exciting racing and great viewing with Grasshopper Lucas Upton taking the gun just ahead the the consistant Lauren Keil in Times Up from About Time Chris Keil.
The NS14s saw some very close racing and hair raising action at the bottom mark at the end it was Walk on the Wild Side Barry Mcindoe and N McIndoe first from Gum Blossom Peter & Claire Cameron second and HedgehogSam Bailey and Eligh Cameron.
The B14s had close racing that also included some close interaction with the other classes at the bottom mark making for some great photos, After some smooth racing it was Cromarty Engineering Cole Dabner and Clare Cromarty again first from Rocket Ship Adrian Beswick and Jono LeBis second and The Hitcher Robbie Hunt and Ben Price third.
The second race was shortned a bit and if anything the racing was even tighter than in race one.
The Sabres saw Times up first from Grasshopper second and About Time third.
NS14 Under the Radar Nick McElwee and Isobel Cameron first Norwegian Blue Scott and Aiden Wilkie second andGum Blossom third.
In the B14s Rocket Ship first from Cromarty Engineeringsecond and Early Warning Ross & Adrianne Daley third.
Race 3 was on the same course with a slight build in preasure and a quick race.
Sabres Times Up first About Time second a few inches clear of Grasshopper in third.
The NS14s Fast Asleep Katherine and Matthew Davis first from Under the Radar second and Walk on the Wild Sidethird.
In the B14s Cromarty Engineering has an exciting finish just pipping Rocket Ship by a few inches for first and The Hitcher in third.
The final race was lengthened a little as the breeze was building but as the race went on the breeze faded a bit.
Sabres Grass Hopper got the win from Times Up second and About Time third.
The NS14s finished in almost exactly the series positions with Under the Radar first from Fast Asleep second andSpinifex Peter & Karen Davis third.
The B14s start saw Rocket Ship over the line at the start and in trying to duck back collected Cromarty Engineeringwith both capsizing and giving the rest of the fleet a big head start.
