The weather in the morning was fine and so the trainees were able to get out on the water.
The afternoon pennant started with an on water start and though thunder storms were predicted we hoped to get the race in, unfortunately shortly after the start the weather deteriorated and by the time the leading boats were at the top mark for the second time a storm was in full swing with torential rain and some hail.
As the competitors had almost zero vision the start boat and rescue boats could not see what was happening and lots of lightening overhead the race was abandoned and all boats sent to shore, good decision Helen, as the risk of leaving the boats on the water was too great.
We will try again next week.
