Commodores update – End of season 24/25

Just a message of thanks and gratitude to the passionate volunteers, members and friends of the Midway Point Yacht Club. What a successful season we have had and with challenging weather although still getting in a full race calendar!

No more challenging weather than the last race of the season, an epic “famine and feast” for wind with seven starters, two assists on water back to shore, others retiring and only two finishing the race, a lone NS14 (well done Jess and Lewis) and a lone Sabre (great tenacity shown by Sarah H.).

The club in indebted to our race officer (Helen) for efficient running of races and the sail training team (Tony, Lewis, Jess, Stephen, Phil and Chris) to upskill and encourage our sailors of the future and the band of volunteers helping with having the power boats ready for both training in the morning and racing in the afternoons. I look forward to the trainee’s continued involvement with the club next season.

Also a special mention to the band of volunteers who helped make the recent trivia night a huge success with a “full house”, promoted not just to club members but also to the wider community and fantastically run by Jess and Lewis. A lot of time and effort goes into organising these types of events at the club and with a few tables made up of locals it also provided an opportunity to promote the club.

Again a whole hearted than you to our dedicated committee members and everyone who comes along and enjoys the facilities, comradere, great racing, fantastic training and our volunteers who are generous with their time and skills (yes that includes you Suzie and Marlene!).

A date for the trophy night will be announced soon (targeted before end of May) with AGM for season 25/26 to be held around June/July.
