Christmas 2020

Published Mon 14 Dec 2020

A great day at the club with the trainees out in a nice breeze, followed by lunch where everyone got together (in a safe socially distanced manner).
Next Santa payed a visit with lots of gifts for both young and old.
Then the Allsands trophy race in a nice fresh warm northerly and to finish off sweets and a cool drink, a perfect way to end the first half of the season.

It was great to see some trainees head out  to race in a pacer and hopefully more of this after the Christmas break.

The race got away at 14:05 in a fresh Northerly with a fleet of five NS14s and two B14s and Sabres and unfortunatly the trainee Pacer retired with Sarah suffering a chipped tooth due to a run in with the centreboard.

It was a pretty even start with a lot of the fleet right on the line at the start (for a change).  By the top mark the boats that went right had an advantage with Serenity first followed by Phantom followed by a tight bunch.

By the wing mark Phantom was in the lead despite not flying the kite, at the top mark the next time it was Phantom from BangBang who was moving up nicely then Sundaze, Serenity, Viva, Spinifex and Norwegian Blue dropping back. Loose Change had a lead over Wind Wizard.

On the Sausage both Phantom and BangBang flew the kites but BangBang had a better drop and moved into the lead, Sundaze manitained the lead in the NS's. Up the next windward the NS14s had a great tussle for 2--3 -4 but Sundaze held on in front not far behind the B's with BangBang in front but capsized just before the top mark.

This gave the lead back to Phantom who took the gun with Sundaze next followed by Serenity who was a mere second ahead of Viv la Vida and Spinifex just three seconds furthur astern and Norwegian Blue another five minutes back and BangBang retired..

In the Sabres Loose Change had gone up the right hand side of the course where Wind Wizard had gone up the middle which hadn't paid off giving a good lead to Loose Change.

Handicap Results

First Sundaze Sam & Lindy Bailey second Norwegian Blue Stephen Townsend and Kodey Rolston and third Spinifex Peter and Karen Davis.

Thats it for 2020 our next event is the Sabre State Titles on January 9th and 10th 2021

Have a great Christmas everyone.
