Commodores Report – End first half of season 24/25
Just a message of thanks and gratitude to the passionate volunteers, members and friends of the Midway Point Yacht Club. What a successful season we have had so far and with challenging weather!
The recent MPYC regatta was an example of fantastic organising, excellent race management and social function delivery all aspects for which Midway Point Yacht Club is held in high esteem within the sailing community.
The culmination of the first half of the season occurred today with Christmas festivities and the running of the Scott Miller memorial trophy race was a highlight with excellent weather, Santa making a guest appearance and another excellent BBQ social gathering at the end of the day. It was great to see so many attend today and like previous weeks continues to demonstrate why Midway Point Yacht Club is the envy of other clubs.
Extreme thanks to the sail training team (Tony, Lewis, Jess, Stephen, Phil and Chris) and the band of volunteers helping with having the power boats ready and with delivering this seasons learn to sail training and the canteen team in ensuring toasted sandwiches and drinks where ready at the end of each days session. It has been an outstanding success and I understand the trainees have gained valuable sailing skills and I look forward to their continued involvement with the club in the new year, whether getting into racing aspects of the club or just looking to further enhance their sailing skills.
I wish everyone a joyous Christmas and happy and safe new year and look forward to a ripper continuation into the second half of the 24/25 season from the 19th Jan next year and the following week the NS14 states being held at the club over the Australia day long weekend.
