MPYC Commodores update – June 2026

I hope everyone is keeping warm and well during these cooler days.

A couple of items to highlight.

MPYC Annual General Meeting – It would be fantastic to see as many people as possible attend the MPYC AGM being held this Sunday the 28th June at 2pm. Please consider nominating for a position on the committee as we do have some spare positions as some current committee members are unavailable to continue next season. For those there early I’m looking to have some Scones, Jam and Cream ready with a coffee or cup of tea.

Looking for assistance and/or advice as to moving on the old drinks fridge/service counter which is not currently working as needs parts replacing. It is sitting in the boat storage shed and we need it gone before the start of the new season. If you have any suggestion for having it removed or if you would like it yourself, please let myself or Steve Miller know and “no” we won’t be using it as a boat anchor or weights for the course marker buoys

And finally, for those looking to improve their skill set in the off-season and be more aware of sailing related items both on and off water, a reminder that Australia Sailing has several relevant E-learning courses suitable for people at all levels and ability, with just released Scorer and Handicapper course. The existing Powerboat Handling Essential Skills is an excellent course for on-water volunteers as it deals with rescue of various boats – Details can be found at the AS Website – https://www.sailingresources.org.au/training  and  https://www.sailingresources.org.au/training/elearning-courses.
