A magnificent day and two on water starts made for a great days sailing.
The morning race got away at 11:47 with four Sabres four B14s and two NS14s in a building SE breeze of 8-15 knots with an even start and as usual two seperate top marks an inner one for the Sabres and a distant one for the NS14 and B14 fleet.
Phantom with new (club) crew Hamish Lord were first to the top mark followed by Bang Bang and Early Warning with Serenity ahead of Viva la Vida.
In the Sabres The Apprentice had the edge on About Time with Wasabi in close attendance.
Phantom held the lead as the wind built and let Early Warning through on the final drop and at the finish it was Early Warning from Phantom and Bang Bang next all three seperated by less than 30 seconds. Serenity held off Viva la Vida in the NS14s and in the Sabres The Apprentice held off About Time with Wasabi over a minute in arrears and Rocket Man at the rear.
The Afternoon race got away just as the sea breeze really set in but start one was a general recall with all the boats from the morning session and the addition of an extra Sabre.
By the time a restart was commenced three boats decided to return to shore with a few gusts hitting the mid 20's.
The breeze was a steady 18knots gusting up to 25 as the remaining boats got away and this time there was an individual recall with Early Warning and Wasabi going back.
At the top mark it was Viva la Vida ahead of serenity and Early Warning making up for lost time. The Sabres were close but The Apprentice was ahead if About Time and Loose Change and Wasabi.
The breeze was a bit much for Tony on Early Warning who left the Kite in the bag on the first down wind, however by the second lap the breeze had eased a little and out the kite came allowing Early Warning to take the lead which she held until the finish with Viva la Vida next ahead of Serenity and Buzz at the rear after a swim on the first jibe.
In the Sabres The Apprentice took the win from About Time and Loose Change up in third,
