There were quite a few new faces on the water with Melinda Lord providing family members as crews for a number of boats with four NS14s two Sabres and two B14s and a paper Tiger.
It was a nice day with an unusual ESE breeze of about 10-14 knots which was quite shifty and variable so provided a good test for crews to start off the second part of the season.
The start line was at a good angle providing a few choices and so we had a good even start. Phantom was first to the top mark followed by Viva la Vida and Serenity and then Bang Bang.
In the sabres it was again a family grudge match between Guy McDougal and sister Jo-Ann Verrier and in the NS's Darren Eggins had Alastair Lord up front Scott Wilkie had Charlotte Salter Melinda had B Salter so a big family afair.
By the end of the race it was Phantom Steve Miller and Roger Jackson first home from Aquaholic Perry Caulfield second then Serenity ahead of Bang bang who had a few issues and Viva la Vida from Under the Radar.
In the Sabres Wasabi Guy McDougal was home ahead of Wetas.
On handicap it was
Aquaholic Perry Caulfield first from Serenity Scott Wilkie and Charlotte Salter and Viva la Vida Darren Eggins and Alastair lord.
Race two got away at 14:30 with a slightly fresher breeze of around 12-15knots and a slight course change to the east.
It was another good start with the fleet depleted by one with Bang Bang not participating and at the top mark again it was Phantom but this time Viva la Vida was second and Serenity third.
With a good breeze but still shifty the race was quite quick with Phantom finishing in 28 minutes despite halyard issues preventing use of the kite for the last lap. Again Aquaholic was enjoying the conditions to finish second and Viva la Vida was third a mere 2 seconds ahead of Serenity .
Wasabi had a good 3 minute lead over Wetas.
On Handicap
Aquaholic first Viva la Vida second and Serenity third.
Next week after a calendar shuffle it will be a double Pennant.
