Inter club 21-11-2021

Published Sun 21 Nov 2021

A gentil breeze greeted the trainees in the morning with the advanced group takling sailing backwards and the new group out for a sail in the light breeze,

After lunch we had two races back to back in the Kingston Beach - Midway Point inter club series.

Race one finally got away at 13:14 in a light SSE breeze after a general  recall on the first attempt with under 10 knots and a fleet of  six NS14s four Sabres and two B14s.

It was a good even start with the boats having a great battle up the first windward with Phantom first followed by Serenity and Bondi tram next, in the Sabres Wasabi led Sweet Disposition.

Josh Eggins was doing really well early sailing one up in Pumpkin Eater and it was great to see Sarah Micheal out in Wettas. Another boat not sighted recently was Under the Radar with Mel and Charlotte Lord. The two B14s cleared out with Phantom and  first from Bondi Tram at the shortened finish at the top mark the third time. Serenity was first NS14 home over two minutes ahead of Sundaze  ahead of Under the Radar with Viva la Vida a couple of minutes astern and well clear of Norwegian Blue. in the Sabres Wasabi held the lead right to the finish from Sweet Disposition well clear of Loose Change with Wettas Retiring from the race along with Pumpkin Eater.

Race two got away at 14:45 in a slightly building breeze of say 10 knots and the course had been shortened by bringing the windward closer to the start. It was another pretty good start and this time Serenity was first around ahead of Phantom then Sundaze and Bondi Tram as expected the B's soon got through to the lead and in the Sabres Sweet Disposition had the better of Wasabi. The breeze was starting to slowly build with a few light patches creeping crews on their toes. On the sausage the first signs of a bit more breeze was evident with Bondi Tram charging at Phantom who was still in the ht stuff. Serenity cleared well away from Sundaze with Viva la Vida in close company. On the final lap the breeze had picked up to around 15knots and the boats enjoyed a quick couple of legs with Phantom home a bit over a minute clear of Bondi Tram with serenity a couple of minutes ahead of Sundaze and Viva la Vida 30 seconds back. In the Sabres Sweet Disposition was over a minute ahead of Wasabi with Loose Change another minute astern and Wettas  finishing her first race.
