With only two MPYC boats going to Kingston on Saturday the event got away to a quiet start.
From the two races at Kingston sailed in a light SW breeze and the now commonplace 180 degree wind shift and the MPYC boats did well.
In the B14 class Phantom won line honours in both races in the five boat series, while Sundaze sailed with Lasers and a 420 in another class.
At Midway today the fleet comprised six B14s seven NS14s and two Sabres and a 420.
Unfortunately the wind never really arrived and after a considerable wait the race got away at 14:23 in a light Northerly of 5~7 knots but unfortunately it just faded as the race wore on and on becoming a full on drifter by the end.
There were a couple of boats over at the start and with the whole fleet on starboard getting back to the line was no easy feat putting Viva la Vida right at the back as it did to Hitchhiker.
in the NS14s Serenity reveled in the light stuff and cleared our from the other boats to lead all the way and managed to keep moving ending up an amazing over 16 minutes ahead of the next NS.
The two Sabres both withdrew before the start leaving the 420 Bellisomo to sail the course alone and win of course.
The B14s had a good battle heading to the top mark while the breeze hung on with Phantom first at the top mark followed closely by Buzz and Bondi Tram with Phantom leading to the bottom mark as the breeze died and occilated E, SE and back to the North.
Being a triangle with a shorter windward and return the NS fleet mostly were able to keep moving but the B14s had a more difficult task with the top mark in a permanent hole which caused the fleet to close up as the boats approached and eventually rounded that mark.
By the finish Serenity had the biggest lead in recent memory with Sundaze next and Norwegian Blue having a great race to come in third we'll clear of Pumpkin Eater with Viva la Vida not far clear of Hedgehog and Bumps retired.
The B14s had Phantom leading all race to be passed a few meters from the Line as the boats drifted to the finish.
First was Bang Bang next Phantom followed by Bondi Tram then Buzz and both The Hitcher and Rocket Ship headed back to the club.
