MPYC sailor at International B14 Nationals and Worlds.

Published Mon 13 Jan 2025

Steve Miller skippering Adrian Beswicks boat Rocket Ship had a good result at the International B14 Nationals and Worlds held at Woolhara Sailiong Club on Sydney Harbour with an 7th in the Nationals and 10th in the Worlds.

In a combined series with the Musto skiffs the fleet of around 65 boats made an impressive site and some very close and exciting racing with plenty of traffic within the fleet and as usual lots of pleasure craft and an array of ferries to keep everyone on their toes.

The Irish pairing of Chris Bateman and Lucy Loughton in Squirrel won the Worlds after a brilliant showing and recent title holders Nick Craig and Toby Lewis in Harken GBR were second and Craig Garmston and Paul Fleming in Snatch AUS third. Australia retained the Ashes with seven of the top ten boats.

In the Nationals Craig Garmston and Paul Fleming took the title from Brent Francombe and Leigh Dunstan in Demon with Richie Reynolds and Lissa McMillan sailing in The Nude third.

A special mention to MPYC's Stephen Mitchell who flew to Sydney at his own expense to volunteer as a rescue boat driver, well done Stephen.

The next B14 National titles will be at Midway Point in Dec/Jan next year.
