The weather was very nice if a little breezy for our first outing for the season. We had good turn up for come and try with an adventurous group keen to get out on the water and give it a try. The official opening was done by Kerry Vincent and then a mix of last season sailors and some new faces and different boats took to the water for a sail past and then the Scott Miller Memorial race.
It was great to see Caitlyn Morrisby and Georgia Verrier back on the water. There were five Sabres five B14s and five NS14s.
The breeze was quite fresh with some pretty new sailors well tested. Ross Daley and Tony van Galen in Early Warning got off to a good start and showed there experience to be the only boat to fly the kite on each lap. There were quite a few casualties with six boats not finishing and quite a few swims. Early Warning were first home from Sundaze seven and a half minutes astern and then Misunderstood who did a great job to stay upright then Stephen Townsend and Jayden Gadischke who had a good race.
On handicap it was a tie for the win with Early Warning and Noiseworks both on 37.37 with Sundaze Sam and Lindy Bailey in third.
Next week will be Pennants 1 & 2.
