The trainees had some time on the water with Lucas taking them out one at a time in the still fresh conditions.
The morning race was dropped due to a lack of interest.
Eventually after a number of boats decided not to sail five boats got on the water at 14:27 in by then a 14-17 knot breeze with gusts in the mid 20s.
Four Sabres and a lone B14 took off into the westerly with Phantom obviously leading the way with a new boom and spinnaker to try out.
Cross Roads Clive Evans led the Sabres around with Grass Hopper not too far behind.
On the small and tight course there was not much time for kite testing and by the final lap Pantom had a substantial lead but on the final jibe took it too carefully and managed to capsize.
After getting the spinnaker down and the boat up the lead was cut to a bare 11 minutes allowing the long handicap boats to take the goodies.
At the finish it was Phantom from Cross Roads then Grass Hopper but on Handicap
LMG Michael Verrier first Loose Change Phil Bloomfield second and Grass Hopper Lucas Upton third.
