A good turn up of trainees in the morning and no morning race but the afternoon pennant had an on water start and almost perfect conditions with a stable 15-19 knot sea breeze.
Only two Sabres starting and with three NS 14s and two B14s only a short start line was set.
The fleet were mostly bunched up at the boat end with the two B14s trying for a flyer coming in from behind. Phantom touched Wasabi at the line and did a circle meaning at the first cross Viva la Vida was ahead.
By the top mark Phantom had recovered followed by Bang Bang then Viva la Vida from Serenity and Hedgehog. In the Sabres Wasabi was around ahead of The Apprentice.
Once the B14s got the kites up the gap soon extended over the NS's with Phantom extending the lead over Bang Bang and Serenity hot on the tail of Viva la Vida with The Apprentice closing the gap on Wasabi.
At the bottom mark the first time Phantom had a reasonable lead over Bang Bang with Viva la Vida still ahead of Serenity and Wasabi and The Apprentice neck and neck.
Up the next leg Wasabi and The Apprentice swapped places several times but going in to the last lap The Apprentice pulled away.
By the finish Phantom held a 1 1/2 minute lead over Bang Bang sailed very well by Stephen Mitchell in his first race for the season with Michael Semelbauer as crew.
Viva la Vida sailed clear of Serenity with Hedgehog well back and The Apprentice had a clear win over Wasabi.
