No training this morning but with two trainees joining in the racing and a new B14 in the fleet is was a great day on the water.
We started out with a 10 knot SSE breeze and a fleet of five Sabres, five NS14s and three B14s getting away to a good start with Phantom soon out in the lead ahead of Early Warning with Sundaze back at the club right up there and new B14 The Turtle not far back. In the Sabres Wasabi had a slender lead over Apisca.
Div 1 Line Honors Wasabi Guy McDougall first Apisca Jo-Anne Verrier second and Loose Change third.
Handicap Wind Wizard Sarah Michael first Apisca second and Loose Change third.
Div 2 Yardstick Phantom Steve Miller and Roger Jackson first Early Warning Ross Daley and Tony Van Galen second and Sundaze Sam and Lindy Bailey third.
Handicap Phantom first Viva La Vida second and Early Warning third.
The second race saw the breeze building to 15 knots and some higher gusts making for a fast race.
Viva la Vida tried the pin end port start and cleared the fleet as did Apisca, by the top mark it was a very close battle with Viva la Vida first from Early Warning just ahead of Phantom who rolled over the top after the spinnaker hoist and Viva la Vida well ahead of the NS14s after the good start.
There were some great spinnaker rides in the B14s and by the finish it was Phantom first just over five minutes clear of Early Warning with Viva la Vida holding on to be next another four minutes astern then Sundaze another minute back. In the Sabres Wasabi again took the gun from Loose change a minure furthur back and Apisca only six seconds astern. The Turtle has a swim but still finished in a promising first apperance at the club.
