Good old show time weather, a nice start with the trainees doing steering practice and then capsize practice in a warm and gentle breeze. After lunch the resail of Pennant 3 & 4.
Unfortunatly the breeze was all over the place and after several attempts to set a course we finally got the Sabres away at 14:03 in a building SW breeze of 15knots with gusts into the 20s. Only three sabres and a windsurfer crossed the line and next the NS14s just two followed by the B14s with just three starters.
Sarah Haywood took the lead in the Sabres with Sundaze leading the NS14s in the B14s Phantom was first at the top mark but Bang Bang jibed early and hooked into some stronger breeze to take the lead. As the race wore on the breeze continues to build with a base breeze in the 20's and some gusts to about 30.
The windsurfer Kris Bird was first home followed by the first NS14 Sundaze and Bang Bang was first B14 and About Time first Sabre.
By the time everyone finished the first race the breeze was well into the mid 20s and gusting over 30 knots so RO Helen Eggins called it a day and sent any boats that were not already heading in back to shore.
