The morning Pennant resail got away late as the wind took its time to build but by 12:00 it was ok so the Pennant resail got away at 12:13 with a tiny fleet as all the NS14s either did not start or failed to turn up.
It was a gentile NW breeze from the start but unfortunately faded as the race progressed.
In Div 1 Wasabi and Grasshopper had a tight battle with Wasabi home 5 seconds clear of Grasshopper and Wind Wizard holding off Rocket Man for third.
Only two B14s sailed and Bang Bang and Phantom had a good tussle swapping the lead several times but Bang Bang got home well clear at the end.
The afternoon race was nearly cancelled as the breeze was at 16-18knots and gusts to 24 and 25 knots.
Only three boats braved the conditions but soon after the start the breeze moderated a bit though the top of the course was very changable with big gusts holes and wild shifts making for interesting sailing.
Cross Roads had a tight battle with Grasshoper but had the edge and finished 37 seconds ahead. Phantom got around the course and it was good to see Jack Whittle getting a taste for the class and club in his first sails at the club.
No sailing next week as it is Easter but another Pennant the following week on April 8th.
