Published Sun 29 Jan 2023

After the trainees spent time on the water on race training we had Pennants 11 & 12 in the afternoon and the weather came to play again for the second week in a row.

Pennant 11 got away at 13:37 with a fleet of five NS14s four Sabres two B14s and a Paper Tiger and the breeze was a gentile 8-12 knots building to 16 knots in the gusts.

Phantom was first to the top mark with Spinifex next and The Turtle well up the other NS14s were quite tight excepting Serenity who had a bad first upwind. In the Sabres TBA was in front with Apisca next.

The fleet streched out with Phantom first home six and a half minutes clear of Spinifex and Noisworks a bit over one and a half minutes furthur back then Avengers less than 30 seconds furthur back, In the Sabres TBA had a good with with Apisca loosing the mast part way round and retiring.

It was great to see new boat the Turtle not just finish but come home in the middle of the NS fleet.

The start was pretty even and by the top mark it was Phantom first from Viva la Vida and the other NS14 in a tight bunch and in the Sabres TBA from Apisca.

During the second lap the breeze built quita a bit with the base breeze up to 17 knots and some gusts to 20 knots making it a pretty quick race and testing the new B14 crew who had a swim and ended up retiring.

By the finish it was Phantom but only just under two minutes ahead of Aquaholic who was loving the fresher breeze, and next Viva la Vida who also loved the increase in preasure another three and a half minutes astern.  Next was Spinifex another minute and a half back just ahead of Avengers just six seconds astern.

In the Sabres it was TBA from Apisca and a good effort for both Wind Wizard and About Time the finishing in the fresher breeze.
