Very light winds (again) with the advanced trainees practicing their skills and the beginners doing tacking and jibing on shore.
The start of racing was delayed hoping for some more wind and we eventually got away at 14:25 in a light but stable SE breeze of about 5-7 knots and lots of rain.
The fleet was reduced to just three Sabres two B14's and an NS14 sailing one up and got away to a pretty even start in though a light breeze probably the most stable breeze so far this season.
By the top marks Phantom had a good lead and TBA was away well in the Sabres and enjoyed a good lead for the whole race.
By the finish it was Phantom first then TBA who was three minutes clear of Wasabi then Bang Bang nearly nine minutes astern of Phantom and Apisca three in arrears of Wasabi with Noiseworks bringing up the rear.
On Yardstick it was.
Div 1 TBA Chris Keil first Wasabi Guy McDougall second and Apisca Jo-Anne Verrier third.
Div 2 Phantom Steve Miller and Roger Jackson first Noiseworks Stephen Townsend second and Bang Bang Stephen Mitchell and Sarah Krulow third.
On Handicap Div 1 TBA first Wasabi second and Apisca third
Div 2 Noiseworks first Phantom Second and Bang Bang third.
Pennant 8
Despite persistent rain the breeze had picked up a little for the second race which got away at 15:44 with the same fleet who were now soaked and a bit cold but bravely fought on.
Again with a small fleet it was a clean start and this time all the Sabres were pretty close and Bang Bang was also much closer to Phantom none the less it was Phantom and TBA first respectively at the top marks.
The contest was very close all race with the final beat deciding the eventual line honours winner in the Sabres who was again TBA but only by 36 seconds from Wasabi who was only four seconds ahead of Apisca who got a knock just before the finish letting Wasabi through.
Phantom was the first boat home with Bang Bang three minutes astern and Noise Works over nine minutes furthur back.
On Yardstick
Div 1 TBA first Wasabi second and Apisca third
Div 2 Phantom first Bang Bang second and Noiseworks third
On handicap Wasabi first TBA second and Apisca third
Div 2 Bang Bang first Phantom second and Noiseworks third
Next week is week six of training and trophy races.
