Everyone returned to the club minus the damaged boat but with an iffy forecast a few stayed ashore.
With a series of weather cells rolling through we knew it was going to be a tricky days sailing for everyone.
Helen headed out first into a solid westerly but soon determind the conditions were sailable and the fleet headed out with a quite small course set.
None of the flying 11s got to the line for the first start so the Sabres were the first class to get away in the morning at 10:38 in a 17knot WNW with gusts in the 20s with a fleet of seven next the Ns14s with four boats and the B14s with just two.
By the finish it was Vynalester Madness Matt Westland first Hailstorm Dan Followes second and TBA Chris Keil third. In the NS14s it was Serenity Scott Wilkie and Billie Salter first Under the Radar Nick McElwee & Holly Hunter second and Avengers Lewis Bowen and Jess Smith third.
In the B14s Rocket Ship Nick Richardson and Natalia Wisniewska first and only finisher.
The third (overall) race got away with the Flying 11s at 11:10 with all three boats on the water and by the finish it was Flying Colours Hamish Manners & James Manners first NV Bella Carter and Sophie Robertson second and Adrenalin Nueng Wirong & Song Wirong third.
In the Sabres the fleet had grown to eight with Apisca II joining in, by the finish it was 2224 Steve Bradford first Jinx Jason Followes second and Hailstorm third.
In the NS14s it was Under the Radar first Serenity second and Spinifex Peter Davis and Safiya Davidson third. The B14s Bangbang Scott Foster and Tony Miller first and Rocket Ship second.
Race 4 got away with the Flying 11s and this time it was NV first Adrenalin second as the only finishers.
In the Sabres it was Vynalester Madness first TBA second and Jinx third, in the NS14s Under the Radar was first Serenity second and Spinifex third. B14s Rocket Ship first Bangbang second and On the Edge Brady Tassiker and Craig Peach third.
Race 5 got away with the Flying 11s and Flying Colours first NV second the only finishers.
In the Sabres it was Vynalester Madness again taking the gun from Steve Bradford second and Jinx third.
The NS14s was Serenity first Spinifex second the only finishers and the B14s Rocket ship first and Bangbang second the only finishers.
Race 6 got away with the Flying 11s and NV first Flying Colours second and Adrenalin third.
Sabres were down to six starters and Vynalester Madness again taking the win from TBA and Jinx third, the NS14s only one starter and finisher Serenity taking the win. In the B14s only one finisher Bangbang taking the win.

B14s Rocket Ship Nick Richardson & Natalia Wisniewska 1-1-2-1-1-(8)=6 first Bangbang Scott Foster and Tony Miller 2-(8)-1-2-2-1=8 second and On the Edge Brady Tassiker and Craig Peach 3-(8)-8-3-8-8=30 third.
A big thank you to our wonderful volunteers, Marlene, Suzanne and Karen in the canteen. Helen and Andrew in the start boat, Mick S Michael V Stephen M Shane G Matt Perry Sam in the rescue/mark boats and Tony helping get the boats and trollys organised on shore. Apologies if I have missed anyone.
Great to have sailors from all over the state sailing at Midway Point and despite some (very) difficult conditions I think everyone enjoyed the weekend and had a fun time at MPYC. Also a big thank you to Jonothan Rees for taking the Rules session on Saturday night which was both well attended and received by all attendees.
