Race training week 2 and Pennants 11 & 12

The trainees went through some race start drills including flag identification. After lunch pennants 11 & 12 were run back to back is a lovely warm breeze and some good close racing.

Pennant 11 got away at 13:31 with the B14s off first, followed by the NS's at 13:34 and Sabres at 13:37 it was a surprisingly light breeze (an early sea breeze) of around 7knots soon building to about 12 with bigger gusts.

Phantom missed the start after a trip to shore to fix a rigging issue and was two minutes late for the start and trailed Early Warning and of course Dutch Rudder, all race. In the NS14s Sundaze had a comanding lead from Pumpkin Eater with Pat and Kat back on the water and Viva la Vida next with Darren sporting broken ribs from the B14 States still.

The Sabres saw a vey tight battle all race with Apisca just pipping Raptor by two seconds at the line.

B14s (Yardstick) Early Warning Ross Daley and Tony VanGalen 1st Phantom Steve Miller and Safi Davidson 2nd and Dutch Rudder Fletcher McCormack and Tom Males 3rd.

Handicap Sabres Raptor 1st, Wind Wizard Sarah Michael 2nd and Loose Change 3rd. NS14s Avengers Lewis Bowen and Jess Smith 1st, Sundaze 2nd, and Pumpkin Eater 3rd B14s Early Warning 1st, Phantom 2nd and Dutch Rudder 3rd.

Pennant 12 got away at 14:38 this time with the Sabres first NS's at 14:41 and B14s at 14:44 in a building SSE breeze of around 12-13 knots but with some gusts to around 20 knots.

In the fresher breeze it was Raptor first in the Sabres about 40 seconds clear of Loose Change and Apisca third. In the NS14s Sundaze again led all the way to come home one minute 30 seconds clear of Pumpkin Eater and Viva la Vida in third.

The Bi4s saw an extra hooter at the start but no flag however Early Warning decided to go back and trailed all race thereafter. 

By the finish it was Dutch Rudder (49er) home first from Phantom with Early Warning three minutes astern.

Next week is the Block Buster and so there is no sailing or training at MPYC.
