Training week 7 and Trophy races 24 November

Published Sun 24 Nov 2024

With a light southerly all our trainees had a good session on the water in the pacers in the morning. After lunch the Sabres and B14s headed out for a couple of Trophy races with the NS14s away at a travellers race at Montrose.

It was great to see Misunderstood not only on the water but sailing really well in both races.

Race one was sailed in a pretty steady 8-10 knot Southerly with an occasional stronger gust with five Sabres and four B14s.

It was a pretty even start with Early Warning first to the top mark who held onto the lead until mid race when Phantom got through to take a solid lead.

At the finish it was Phantom Steve Miller and Saffi Davidson first from Early Warning Ross Daley and Tony VanGalen and Misunderstood Matt Clough and Ryan Styles in third after Jumpin' Jack Flash sailed the wrong course, TBA Chris Keil was first Sabre home from Apisca Jo-Anne Verrier.

On handicap it was Misunderstood first Phantom second and Early Warning in third.

Race two got away in a slightly fresher version of the breeze with the B14s revelling in the conditions, this time Jumpin' Jack Flash jumping into the lead and though Phantom got through for a leg or two JJF got back in front and finished with a good win. Misunderstood had a great race getting into third place and holding out Early Warining up the last beat. TBA was again first Sabre home and Apisca second.

On handicap it was Misunderstood first Jumpin' Jack Flash second and Phantom third.

Overall Misunderstood first Phantom second and Wind Wizard Sarah Michael in third.

Next week is the Pittwater Regatta so no training.
