A good training session in the morning with the trainees on the water for a good solid time. With the NS14s away it was a reduced fleet racing today and a light unsettled breeze but one long race made the most of it.
As the breeze was so unsettled and we only had the one boat as start course and rescue boat it was decided to set an average course and either start heading south or north and it paid off as within 20 minutes of the start the breeze swing from N to S. The fleet was composed of three windsurfers, two B14s and a 49er and four Sabres. The 49er eventually moved away and the B14s had a pretty tight battle while the Sabres had Apisca out in front from Loose Change and Wind Wizard and Micks Boat pretty close and in the windsurfers it was Dan Ford ahead of Kris Bird.
It was quite a long course for the light breeze and by the finish it was the 49er drifting home after an hour and a half on the water, next Bang Bang snuck through Early Warning to finish next. Apisca had a good lead and with the sea breeze finally coming in the sabres and wind surfers had the breeze for the last lap and on handicap all did well.
The final result was
Wind Wizard Sarah Michael first Loose Change Phil Bloomfield second and Apisca Jo-Anne Verrier third.
Next week training week 7 and another Trophy Race.
