With most of our Sabres away at the State titles at Lindisfarne we still had a good fleet.
Four NS14s three B14s and a Cat and Sabre got away at 14:05 in a light southerly.
It was tight at the top mark with Serenity first and Early Warning ahead of Buzz and Viva la Vida, Bang Bang, Hedge Hog and Arctic all in a tight group.
The leading two boats Early Warning and Buzz cleared out a bit and it was very tight at the wing mark with Buzz sneaking inside Early Warning to take the lead.
The next leg saw the fleet stretch out with the wind still from the south but on the return down wind the leading boats all ran out of breeze as a new breeze filled in, the majority of the fleet bunched up and it was a virtual re start.
The breeze had gone east and was quite patchy so more lead changes and compression of the fleet happened.
At the top mark the course was shortened to a quick dash back to the finish.
Early Warning just held on from Bang Bang who had snuck through in to the lead for a short time and Serenity was right up there.
In the dash to the finish Bang Bang was first from Buzz two seconds clear of Early Warning and Serenity first of the NS14s however the fleet was so compressed the longer handicap boats and classes had a good run.
Marlene in the only Sabre finished after one lap and had the elapsed time adjusted and Perry in the cat called it quits early.
On handicap the result was
First Hedgehog Malinda Lord and Hamish Lord, second Serenity Scott Wilkie and Gus Wilkie and third Buzz Steve Miller and Jack Whittle.
