Published Sun 09 Oct 2022

With a light wind forcast we got the race away at 13:10 with a fleet of four Sabres three B14's two NS14's and a cat.

The breeze just built a little in the last 30 seconds before the start and a couple of boats had been off exploring and were late the rest of the fleet had a fairly even start.

By the top mark Phantom had the lead with Avengers Lewis Bowen doing well next very closely followed by Early Warning and Bang Bang, in the Sabres About Time Chris Keil was doing well as was Wasabi Guy McDougall who was in front of Apisca Jo-Anne Verrier. The breeze fluctuated a bit but mostly held Southerly at around 5-7 knots.

Comming into the bottom mark the last time Phantom had a good lead over Early Warning and Bang Bang close together but a massive easterly swing allowed those two boats to head straight to the finish while Phantom tacked back into a big knock with the three boats coming together just before the line with Early Warning sneaking through to take the gun from Phantom by 4 seconds with Bang Bang just astern.

After the B's finished the breeze slowly died leaving the other boats with a slow trip home Aquaholic decided to call it a day and retired Avengers was first of the NS14s and in the Sabres About Time held on by 23 seconds over Wasabi with Apisca another 30 seconds astern.

On handicap it was Bang Bang Stephen Mitchell and Adrianne Daley first Early Warning Ross Daley and Tony Van Galen second and Phantom Steve Miller and Roger Jackson third.

Next week we start out training program and later Pennants 3 & 4.
