With all the NS14s not available just the two B14s two Sabres and a cat enjoyed the best conditions so far this year/season and revelled in what was a near perfect day.
The race got away at 14:05 with Perry in the cat returning to shore with traveller issues, he did eventually get away but missecd the start by over a minute.
The other boats had an even start in the southerly of 15-17knots with gusts 18-20 toward the end of the race with warm water and plenty of sun.
Phantom with Steve Miller and Jack Whittle were first to the top mark in a tricky in comming tide adding a degree of difficulty to judging the lay line. Bang Bang was next with Aquaholic in catch up mode after missing the start then About Time/ Wind Wizard Chris Keil leading Loose Change Phil Bloomfield.
The two B14s revelled in the fresh breeze though it was tight getting around the wing mark but then the next leg was very broad forcing both boats to do an extra jybe.
About Time held off Loose Change though not by much as Aquaholic sliced through the fleet like a hot knife through butter (Perrys words).
On the second lap Phantom extended the lead furthur where as the sabres held position and the cat was nearly keeping pace with the B's.
With the breeze freshening a little on the final lap we saw Phantom at the wing mark as Bang Bang rounded the top mark and the gap looked big enough but at the finish after lapping the Sabres comimg up the final beat the lead was only 2:26 over Bang Bang and not enough for a handicap win.
Aquaholic was next 4:35 behind Bang Bang and About Time (Wind Wizard) four minutes ahead of Loose Change.
On Handicap
First Bang Bang Stephen Mitchell and Michael Semelbauer second Phantom Steve Miller and Jack Whittle and third Aquaholic Perry Caulfield.
No club racing next week as the fleet will be at Beauty Point for the Block Buster.
