I spent much of the first race inverted and so will keep this short.
Race one got away at 13:08 in a S-SE breeze that quickly built to 20 knots and gusts close to 25. It was great to see Steven Brown and Sofia Matiningui out in Just Ice and also Pat Hutton and Kat Oaldfeld for their first race in Bumps. By start time Bang Bang and the 49er decided to head to shore.
During the race Phantom had a swim and decided to call it a day as did Just Ice leaving just the three NS14s a Sabre and windsurfer to complete the race.
Noiseworks took the gun from Avengers with Bumps in third then the windsurfer and Sabre.
On Handicap it was :
Avengers first Lewis Bowen and Jess Smith from Noiseworks second Stephen Townsend and Jayden Gadischke and the windsurfer Kris Bird third.
Race two
The breeze was hanging in there and had increased a little when the same five boats to battle it out in the second race.
This time Bumps had the upper hand with Noiseworks having a swim, by the finish it was Bumps with a solid one min and 13 second break over Avengers and Noiseworks third nearly six minutes in arrears.
On handicap it was
Avengers first from the Bumps second and the Windsurfer in third.
Overall
Avengers first Bumps second and Kris Bird third.
Next week is back to Pennant racing with Pennants 9 and 10 sailed back to back.
A big thanks to Darren Eggins and John Townsend assisted by Sarah Michael who were kept busy in the patrol boat.
