Trophy Race 18th January 2026

Published Sun 18 Jan 2026

No training yet and a few boats still away saw a small fleet today with a solid but fluky Easterly rolling in over the top Midway.

Just three B14s three NS14s and a lone Sabre and by race start time one NS had headed back in.

At the start it was ENE at 10-12 knots but with gusts 18-20 and quite variable, with the top mark quite close to shore it was a bit tricky.

Phantom got to the top mark first and stretched the lead as the race progressed. Viva la Vida was lead NS all race and Jumpin Jack Flash had three swims and ended up retiring.

At the finish it was Phantom first, four minutes 24 seconds clear of Early Warning with Viva la Vida just 33 seconds astern with Serenity four minutes 30 astern.

On handicap it was Viva la Vida Darren Eggins & Billie Nelson first Phantom Steve Miller & Safiya Davidson second and Serenity Scott Wilkie and James Lewis in third.

Next week there is NO SAILING at MPYC with the NS14s away at their State Titles.
