Published Sun 20 Feb 2022

The race training group were back out on the water in the morning practicing starts and doing a great job.

After lunch a small group of four NS14s two Sabres two B14s and a cat started off the club at 14:10.

The breeze which had been a reasonable northerly had died by the time most boats were around the top mark with a drifting sesson out to the wing mark with boats on all points of sailing but none moving very well.

At the top mark it had been Phantom, Bang Bang, Serenity, Sundaze, Viva la Vida, Norwegian Blue with Sarah Krulow out for her first race as forward hand, Aquaholic then the Sabres but by the wing it was Sundaze, Viva, Phantom, Serenity, Bang Bang, Aquaholic Norwegian Blue and Wetas ahead of Loose Change.

At the bottom mark Phantom just ahead of Bang Bang and Sundaze still clear of the other NS's and Wetas still ahead of Loose Change. Up the next windward the leading NS's worked the shore with the B14s furthur out and Sundaze had snuck into the lead ahead of Bang Bang from Phantom with Serenity next from Viva and Wetas still ahead of Loose Change.

The bottom mark it was Bang Bang from Phantom with Sundaze ahead of Serenity. Up the next windward the B14s tried the shore and this time the NS's stayed out and at the top mark it was Sundaze from Phantom, Bang Bang, Serenity and Viva and Wetas maintaining a 5 second lead over Loose Change and Aquaholic had seen enough and headed back to the club.

The next two legs with the breeze initially moving west was a very shy reach to the wing mark and a broad reach to the bottom and the breeze went more to the NW leaving a reach to the finish but again the wind went back NNW leaving a windward to get over the line at the finish it was Phantom from Bang Bang with Sundaze well clear next from Serenity, Viva, Norwegian Blue and Loose Change turned the tables on Wetas with a 5 second gap.

On Handicap it was Sundaze Sam and Lindy Bailey from Wetas Joanne Verrier and Viva la Vida Darren Eggins and Alastair Lord in third.

Next week is the Block Buster Regatta at PDYC and there will be no club sailing.
