With much of our fleet away there were still enough boats for a race.
The day got away with the trainees on the water including capsize practice and they all did very well.
After lunch a small fleet of four Sabres and two B14s took to the water in a very light SE breeze though shortly before the start there was quite a strong WNW breeze for a few minutes but at the start a light SE was back that died and eventually came back as a westerly soon to go North and lots of other directions.
Bang Bang got away well and had a huge lead at the bottom mark which by then was the top mark, but unfortunately capsized and got stuck in the mud allowing most of the fleet through.
All the boats struggled with no breeze at various times and it was not until the leading boat Phantom was half way to the finish line on the final leg that a solid Westerly filled in again making for a hairy dash through the line and quick kite drop before the shore came up to greet the boat.
With the new breeze holding on until everyone finished Bang Bang flew home with the Sabres who were a lap down made quick work of the last lap and cleaned up on handicap with Loose Change well ahead of Wasabi.
On Handicap Loose Change Phil Bloomfield had a huge win from Wasabi Guy McDougall also well ahead of Bang Bang Stephen Mitchell and Adrian Bell back on the water for the first time.
It was a tough first race for Daniel Bannister on Phantom with a mixture of fordeck time and a few blasts of 15+knots after a drifter, so well done.
