With the Sabres away at the State Titles in Hobart at RYCT as part of the Showdown Regatta it was only a small turn up but fantastic weather.
The B14 Nationals are now only four weeks away so both Bang Bang and Early Warning were wearing new cloths (sails) a full set each and Phantom was keen to regain some form after a very trying season so far.
In the NS14s Viva la Vida Serenity and Noiseworks all took to the water along with Aquaholic (Paper Tiger) to complete the fleet.
The race got away at 13:20 with all three B14s right up on the line closesly followed by the NS 14s closer to the start boat.
Phantom soon taked off to port to get some clear air and just crossed the NS's and by the top mark it was all very close with Bang Bang who had gone out to the right all the way to the lay line first from Phantom and then Early Warning and the NS14s and Paper Tiger all close behind.
On the first down wind Bang Bang noticed a rigging error and dropped the kite letting Phantom through to the lead and Early Warning into second.
By the bottom Mark Phantom was well clear and held the lead to the finish to be 3 minutes clear of Early Warning with Bang Bang back a furthur 3 minutes.
In the NS14s it was an even tussle with Serenity home next 12 seconds ahead of Viva la Vida and Aquaholic another 6 seconds behind and Noiseworks at the rear.
On handicap it was
First Viva la Vida Darren Eggins and Alastair Lord second Noiseworks Stephen Townsend and third Serenity Scott Wilkie and Shyla Kupkis.
Next week is the final Training week and another Trophy Race.
