Training kicked off with some reasonable weather with the new trainees introduced to the boats and a trip on the water. After lunch we had just one trophy race with a cold day making waiting around for a second start not very attractive.
Opening Day 2025-26 is this Sunday the 28th September including Sail Training come and try/sign up day the Scott Miller Memorial race and after sailing a BBQ.
It is only three and a bit weeks away from Opening Day on September 28th, as in recent years it will be trainee come and try and sign up day so anyone interested in doing sail training this season be sure to get to the club on the 28th to lock in your spot as there is limited availability.
The exterior of the club house has now been completed, in most parts the first time it has been painted since construction 40 odd years ago and then it was just the undervote already on the weather boards.
One last chance to all come together and celebrate the season that was from 7:00pm at the club, please bring a plate of sweets or savoury treats to share for supper.
Commodores update – End of season 24/25
Just a message of thanks and gratitude to the passionate volunteers, members and friends of the Midway Point Yacht Club. What a successful season we have had and with challenging weather although still getting in a full race calendar!
A strange day with very unpredictable weather leading to the race start being delayed until 14:00 then during the first leg a nasty change came through bringing very strong gusts and large direction changes. Firstly Phantom then Viva la Vida and Serenity headed back in, Under the Radar lost the rudder and Noiseworks capsized while heading back to shore leaving just Avengers and About Time to make it a race.
