Commodores Christmas update

Commodores Report – End first half of season 24/25 Just a message of thanks and gratitude to the passionate volunteers, members and friends of the Midway Point Yacht Club. What a successful season we have had so far and with challenging weather! The recent MPYC regatta was an example of fantastic organising, excellent race management and social function delivery all aspects for which Midway Point Yacht Club is held in high esteem within the sailing community.

Pittwater Regatta 2024 Day 2 and final results

Despite the original forecast we had sensational conditions to finish off the regatta with a solid Northerly breeze sunshine and warm conditions. Some of the fleet decided to stay ashore or head back in but most sailed the majority of the races.

Training week 7 and Trophy races 24 November

With a light southerly all our trainees had a good session on the water in the pacers in the morning. After lunch the Sabres and B14s headed out for a couple of Trophy races with the NS14s away at a travellers race at Montrose.

New club merchandise now available

The brand new club merchandise is now at the club, we have limited stock and will be taking orders for more or different sizes as needed.

Training on land and no sailing today

With both the forecast and actual weather a bit over the top today we had theory in the training as well as some weather observation and recording. It was then decided to call off all sailing for today and try again next week.

Training week 3 and Pennants 1 & 2 resail

Another great day on the water with all the trainees out on the water in the Pacers and doing a great job. After lunch the resail of Pennants 1 & 2 in some variable and quite challenging conditions.

Training week two and Pennants 3 & 4

A perfect day today with light winds in the morning for the trainees to do some capsize practice and get the feel of the boats. After lunch we had a lovely building ESE breeze for pennants 3 & 4.

First week of training and Trophy races

We had a great turn out of trainees this morning a mixed group all keen to learn. After lunch we had an excellent fleet with four windsurfers as well as two of the new trainees out as crew on NS14s.

Pennants 1 & 2

Unfortunately the weather was not on our side again this weekend and despite a couple of boats getting to the line before starting time we had a gust of 30 knots and so Helen called the race off before most boats were on the water.

Opening Day

A mixed bag with some potential trainees getting in a sail, official opening by Sorell Mayor Janet Gatehouse followed by a race that unfortunately ended up being abandoned with many of the boats having a swim.

Opening Day this Sunday 29th September

It is our Opening Day this Sunday 29th of September with Come and Try from 9:00 until 11:00 our trainers will be present and you can sign on to our training program. Official opening and sail past with the first race of the season at 13:30. Following sailing will be a BBQ.
